USTA Rhode Island is seeking volunteers to serve on the board of directors for the Rhode Island Tennis Scholarship Foundation, formerly the USTA Rhode Island National Junior Tennis & Learning chapter (NJTL). The boards function will be to help organize tennis events and raise funds for scholarships for high school seniors in the Ocean State.

Over the past dozen years, approximately $30,000 total has been awarded to high school boys and girls. The scholarships, known as the Judy Brucks Memorial Scholarship has awarded $1,000 scholarships to one boy and one girl, whom tennis has had a profound impact of their lives. The applicants write essays on how they have been positively influenced by tennis. Playing ability is not a part of the criteria.
